Jungle walk

Our first morning Cathy suggested we stay local since we would most likely be hit with jet lag. Owen didn't make it to breakfast so I delivered an omelette and fruit to him. We decided to do the local guided jungle walk and see if we could spit some monkeys. Our tour was much more than when the rest of the group did it... We waked the jungle (no monkeys 😞), through the village, the small market, the large market and town! About halfway through my fitbit vibrated indicating 10,000 steps. Too bad it won't sync! It was supposed to also include lunch in town but Owen asked if we could eat at the hotel instead!
The receipt. No last name. Just Jennifer x2!
Owen and our guide on the railroad tracks. There have been no trains for the past 10 years. You often see the motorcycles using them as a road!
Dirt roads aplenty!
This spring is filled with water coming from Kilimanjaro. Locals often bathe in it. We didn't take a picture of the naked man!
Standing in front of rice fields. Rice is grown here and "exported" to east Africa.
While we didn't see any monkeys we  saw plenty of lizards, chickens, and goats. At first we were like, "Wow, look at the goats!"  Okay, we still point everytime we see one like it's something novel, but I don't know why because they ARE EVERYWHERE.
The picture on the bottom left is of toddler sized vultures on a garbage heap.
They were CREEPY!  I really wish I was able to get a better picture!!
Our guide, Duba, holding a natural remedy for malaria. We wondered how African people live with malaria infested Mosquitos. They have natural remedies: there is one plant that they burn inside the house to keep Mosquitos away and they make a tea out of this to cure the disease.
In the village we met some local children and "Babu" (Grandfather), an elderly man that tends to the vegatation in the area.

After the village we walked through the small market and the big market.  These were huge areas filled with vendors selling all kinds of fruits, vegetables and spices.  The area was packed with people! We seemed to be the only tourists.
