Playtime at TAFCOM school

On Friday (I still have to write about Thursday's home visits) we went back to TAFCOM school to playing with them using the balls and jump ropes we brought.

I've never seen such excitement over a kickball. Because there were so many kids, we had them make a circle and then showed them how to throw the ball across the circle to each other.
The younger class teacher is in the green
dress, playing with the 2-4 year olds.
The girls really liked the jump ropes. We practiced counting while they jumped.
The older class teacher loves it too!

We also did some "first drawings" with rocks.
After playtime it was time for porridge.
And group hug from the kids good bye! We were returning on Saturday to hang up some supplies in the classroom but weren't sure if we would see the kids again.

After the kids left, I had a chance to sit down with the teacher to tak about the classroom and give her ideas about how to use some of the supplies. I asked how she teaches 40 students at different levels. She showed me some small notebooks (similar to blue exam books) that she uses to practice writing, basically drawing a tracing page for students to complete. While some kids work on that she does basic math with the older students. She had some problems drawn out on the board:
I showed her some of the different number cards and how she can get use them to model addition problems. When we came back on Saturday, we made a ledge out of duct tape and put up some other decorations.

Duct tape ledge with number cards
Duct tape pocket to hold extra index cards.
