TAFCOM - Minnesota school (July 11)

TAFCOM - Minnesota school

In Moshi, TAFCOM has the preschool class, kindergarten class, office, and tailoring program.

A second location about 30 minutes away has been added.  When we visited that location in 2015, they had one building and with 2 classrooms. One classroom was being used for 1st grade.  You can read about that here:
2015 TAFCOM new primary school

Well, they have really grown! Due to substantial help from a benefactor in Minnesota, they added another building and now have space for an office, library, and 3 classrooms (currently 1st, 2nd and 3rd).  A new building for next year's 4th graders has been added and the foundation has been started for the last building. Each year, as the student's move up, a new class is added.

Jonas explained future plans to the group.

We went around and met the classes and introduced ourselves. The 3rd graders sang songs for us.

After Old MacDonald I told Owen we were totally doing that with the preschoolers tomorrow!!

I loved this song about what they were going to be when they grew up. What a positive message and way to increase motivation to stay in school. The children sang about being teachers, engineers, nurses, doctors, and reporters.

Then we put up some of the decorations in the library and supplies were organized in the office.

Owen and I spent the rest of the afternoon with the 3rd graders - called Class 3 here- on math.  We showed the teacher and the students how to use the triangle flash cards for multiplication and division practice. After a whole group review, we split the kids into 3 groups for small group practice. I explained to the teacher that for this type of review the students should be grouped by ability. I took the lower kids, Owen took the higher kids and the teacher took the remaining kids. It was really fun!
